Madagascar, a huge island nation off the southeast coast of Africa, is home to thousands of animal species – like lemurs – found nowhere else, plus rainforests, beaches and reefs. Near the busy capital, Antananarivo, is Ambohimanga, a hillside complex of royal palaces and burial grounds, as well as the “Avenue of the Baobabs,” a dirt road lined by massive centuries-old trees.
After months and months of research our search has ended. We are moving to what has to be one of the most exciting countries in Africa, Madagascar! If you’re not too sure where it is, then here you go.
We will be living some 20 km South of Toamasina.
Not a bad spot to move to!
This is such an exciting adventure and unique opportunity to explore a part of the world which we are not too familiar with. A chance to relearn French. French and Malagasy are the two main languages with little English spoken. For Katja, this will be a tremendous opportunity as the school is very small and more like a big family! We cannot wait to get there and August cannot come soon enough.
Moving to a country like this means we can once again be part of a local community where we can make a difference, We will do this through a number of different means.
