Qatar One year On

Doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun! It feels as if we have only just arrived in Qatar and we are now planning our departure for the rest of the summer.

So far, in our 21 years of marriage, I can honestly say this has been our most hectic year…..ever! It has been a year of ups and downs, laughter and sorrow.

The highlight of the year has been the amount of traveling we have made. It has been awesome being able to travel to parts of the world we had never been to. It has been fantastic being able to spend the entire winter in shorts and t-shirt planning which outdoor activity to do next. It has been a wonderful time being able to discover places and learn new things in our new home. We are fortunate enough to live in a lovely compound and in a great apartment. Since arriving here. we have had lots of things to be grateful for. Things from March onwards became a lot harder, starting off with Cathy requiring a major operation. During her recovery period her boss and personal friend passed away unexpectedly at the age of 42. No sooner had Cathy had gone back to work it was my turn to test Qatar’s hospital and have my gallbladder removed. We are fortunate to live in a country where we have good health care and good medical insurance so yes, every cloud does have a silver-lining! Kati has had a fabulous year at school, great teachers and good classmates. Today (Sunday) is her last school day until September!

Our summer break will start with a flight back home where we are really looking forward to seeing friends and family. It will be nice to spend some time back home. This will be the longest time we spend back in Oswestry since leaving 11 years ago, scary how time flies! End of July we will come back to Qatar for a few days before heading off to Sri Lanka until the end of August.
